Philosophia Botanica embodies the fusion of botanical wisdom, adaptogenic herbs and the concept of regenerative beauty with products inspired by the aromas of the Ligurian Macchia Mediterranea and the southern African fynbos, combining only the best botanicals with powerful natural active ingredients. We deliberately chose plants that we knew had skincare benefits but were also in abundant enough supply to ensure that we would always have sufficient quantities for the collection. They are picked at the right moment in the Western Cape and the Macchia Mediterranea. Extra care is taken to remove only a few plants, flowers, or branches, so plenty remains to continue the supply.

Each source promotes traditional plant-based knowledge, represents an inspiring story of organic agriculture, sustainability, economic upliftment, and wherever possible the preservation of botanical culture.

We also believe that botanical treasures like essential oils and flower essences can have a significant positive influence on our mental, physical and soul wellness as well as on the economic health of small communities throughout the world.

We do not test our ingredients or finished products on animals and we work closely with our ingredient suppliers to ensure they are aware of our company values and policies. Our ingredients are sourced from sustainable and Fair-trade plantations wherever possible and our products are hypoallergenic and vegan friendly.

All products come packaged in glass to preserve freshness and conserve the original scent, as well as being ready for re-cycling. Our formulations are biodegradable, avoiding contamination in our waterways. We believe in supporting sustainable agriculture; especially within Africa so that we can contribute to local economic development for generations to come.
