Inhaling the beauty of essential oils
Did you know? When we inhale essential oils, the molecules travel through the nose to the olfactory bulb which is part of the limbic system (our “emotional brain”). Anxiety, depression, fear, anger, inspiration, passion and joy all emanate from this region. Scent is the only sense that is directly linked to this part of the brain. Knowing this it’s easy to see why essential oils can have some very profound physiological and psychological effects on our memory and emotions. We can use citrus oils for uplifting, tree oils for grounding, florals for fear and worry, mints for anxiety, and spice oils for passion and inspiration. The list goes on and on. Start with one. Open a bottle, inhale and enjoy the wonderful world of essential oils and aromatherapy. Illustration by @libbyvanderploeg for @adinagrigore The Essential Life book.
